# Check-In Procedure

**Step 1: Prepare to Check-In**

* Open the HKU App, tap on Attendance App when you arrive at the venue for your class or event.

Note: Some classes or events may allow early check-in. Please confirm with your lecturer, teaching assistant, or event organizer if early check-in is permitted.

**Step 2: Check In**

* You will be checked in automatically for the class or event if you are registered.
* Click the “CHECK IN” button to record your attendance if you are not already registered.

## Check-In Scenarios

**A. Registered Event**

* If you have registered for the event, your attendance will be **automatically recorded** when you arrive at the venue during the allowed check-in time.\
  Your attendance record and check-in timestamp will be displayed.

**B. Unregistered Event (Sit-In)**

* If you are not registered for the event but are attending as a sit-in, tap the “**CHECK IN**” button to record your attendance.\
  Your attendance will be logged as a sit-in.

**Check-In Requirements**

* You can only check in if:
  * You are enrolled in the course for the lecture.
  * You have registered for the tutorial group using Tutorial Sign-up.
  * You have registered for the event requiring prior registration.
  * You use the "**CHECK IN**" button to record attendance as a sit-in.
